How to Find a Product's Serial Number

Warranty status is keyed to the serial number. Here's where to find it on most products.

Common locations: a sticker on the back/bottom of the device, under or behind the battery, inside the battery compartment, on the original box, on the receipt or order email, and — for many electronics — in the device's own Settings/About screen (phones, laptops, TVs, game consoles).

Once you have it, brands like Apple (checkcoverage.apple.com), HP, Dell and Lenovo let you look up live warranty status directly from the serial number.

Tip: store the serial alongside the purchase date so a future claim takes seconds — that's what a warranty tracker is for.

Never lose a warranty again

The hardest part of any warranty claim is proving when you bought it. WarrantyKeep stores each product's purchase date, receipt photo and warranty length, and reminds you before it expires.
