Do You Need to Register a Product for Warranty?
In the US, usually no — registration mostly powers recalls and marketing. But there are real exceptions.
For most products in the US you do NOT have to register to be covered. Brands like Instant Pot state in writing that failing to register won't diminish your warranty rights. Coverage is established by your proof of purchase, not a registration form.
Registration still matters in two cases: (1) when it UNLOCKS an extension — LG's mobile 'Second Year Promise', SharkNinja's VIP upgrade to up to 5 years, and Bosch laser tools (register within 8 weeks to go from 1 to 2 years); (2) so the maker can reach you about safety recalls.
Bottom line: keep your proof of purchase regardless, and register only when there's a stated coverage extension to gain.
Never lose a warranty again
The hardest part of any warranty claim is proving when you bought it. WarrantyKeep stores each product's purchase date, receipt photo and warranty length, and reminds you before it expires.
